Using JPC as shield against clash tantamount to offence: Hasan 286 DHAKA, March 1, 2021 (BSS)- Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said using neutral organization- Jatiya Press Club (JPC) as a shield against clash is tantamount to an offence. “Jatiya Press Club is a neutral national organization and it is an institution of journalists. It is open for all irrespective of opinions and political parties. So, it is really unaccepted to carry out attacks on police from there,” he said. Hasan, also Awami League Joint General Secretary, said this while replying to reporters at his ministry at the Secretariat here. Earlier, the minister exchanged views with the leaders of Bangladesh Chalachitra Pradarshak Samity, the top representative body for cinema hall owners of the country.

State plan to aid e-commerce

4 ETDA released its 2021-22 strategic plan for the country s e-transaction development as online transactions gain favour in society. The Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA) is gearing up to develop digital infrastructure, upgrade e-transaction rules, improve e-transaction system standards and promote digital knowledge among the public as part of its 2021-22 strategic plan. The draft plan was revealed when ETDA recently held an online conference to gauge feedback from 70 state and private organisations. A key target of the plan is to increase people s confidence in internet usage by at least 4% per year to reach 85% in 2022. ETDA executive director Chaichana Mitrpant said his agency is obliged by the Electronic Transaction Act to usher in a strategic plan for e-transaction support.
