ERA plans power tariff benefits for SMEs May 24, 2021 A client using the Yaka meter The Electricity Regulatory Authority says it is going to focus on easing power tariffs to small and medium enterprises by coming up with incentives for the sector, which is the largest creator of employment in the country. Small and medium enterprises are lumped among commercial consumers when the Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) draws up consumer category. The commercial consumers constitute nearly six per cent of the customer base for electricity sales, and contribute about 30 per cent of the revenue. ERA’s intervention for the SMEs could likely push this contribution further up.
