Kong brings its brand of funk to Electric Haze

The rates of cases are going down, which means that COVID-19 regulations are easing up in Massachusetts. This means that venues that have the means to do so can reopen and have live music at a reduced capacity to coincide with social distancing. Since this became reality last month, Electric Haze has been putting on an assortment of events at 26 Millbury St. These kinds of shows have featured DJs, art gallery showings, live bands and even a thing called “Magic Male XXL,” which we’ll leave up to the imagination. At 8 p.m. April 16, Kong will be coming to the stage from Boston to perform the music they refer to as “thunderfunk”.

David McKenna celebrates ten years of the Rockfort column and tackles folk, rap, the dark arts - and classic French Europop
This column marks the ten-year anniversary of Rockfort on The Quietus, a realisation which is a source of delight and no little consternation (for me, but perhaps for others too). It’s the sort of moment that leads to pained reflections on where the time has gone, and what I’ve achieved. Then I remember that over the same period Daft Punk only managed to release one paltry album before splitting up and I feel much better!

As Aaron Lewis once sang, it’s been a while. September 20 was the last time we had a “regular” Beyond Wrestling show, from the undisclosed location that ended with Milk Chocolate (the tag team, not the food) getting thrown into a lake. With the world still in varying degrees of being messed up, Beyond can’t run their regular shows – no more packed Electric Haze, no more White Eagles… so we’re off to the H20 Wrestling Centre in Williamstown, New Jersey for the start of the Signature Series – a run of shows that’ll feature the returns of two Beyond staples: the Greatest Rivals Round Robin and the Tournament For Tomorrow.
