The mutual evaluation of country specific anti-money laundering and terror-financing mechanism by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) is a routine ongoing process and is being conducted on all member countries of the global body on a rotational basis. The routine process of evaluation of India s established mechanism against financial crimes by the FATF is likely to be carried out later this year, a government official privy to the matter said.

Indiana man charged with attempted murder of Portland police Malik Muhammed is accused of repeatedly trying to kill officers during protests last summer. An Indiana man was indicted on allegations that he attempted to murder two police officers during separate riots in Portland last year by using explosive devices. Malik Muhammed, 24, was arrested on multiple warrants Friday, April 2, and remains in an Indianapolis jail. He will be extradited to Oregon, where he will face multiple felonies as part of a 28-count indictment, according to the Multnomah County District Attorney s Office. According to the indictment, prosecutors claim Muhammed came to Portland in September 2020 for the specific purpose of engaging in multiple criminal acts. On Sept. 5, he engaged in tumultuous and violent conduct near the Portland Police Bureau s East Precinct that resulted in a grave risk of causing public alarm, the indictment said.

Utilties stocks rise

Utilties stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Utilities index increasing 33.21 points or 1.52% at 2224.83 at 09:49 IST. Among the components of the S&P BSE Utilities index, Reliance Infrastructure Ltd (up 6.15%), Adani Power Ltd (up 4.96%),Reliance Power Ltd (up 4.8%),Adani Transmission Ltd (up 3.33%),BF Utilities Ltd (up 3.08%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Gujarat Industries Power Co Ltd (up 2.28%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (up 2.05%), Rattanindia Power Ltd (up 1.9%), GE T&D India Ltd (up 1.88%), and JSW Energy Ltd (up 1.62%). On the other hand, Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd (down 2.75%), Mahanagar Gas Ltd (down 1.64%), and Indian Energy Exchange Ltd (down 0.4%) turned lower.

Adani Enterprises subsidiary bags road project from NHAI

Adani Road Transport, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, secured a road project worth Rs 2,020.93 crore.The order entails six laning of National Corridor NH-19 from Panagarh to Palsit in West Bengal under Bharatmala Pariyojana to be executed on BOT-(Toll) basis. The concession period is 20 years including contruction period of 2.5 years. With this project award, Adani Group will have total nine NHAI road projects under HAM, toll-operate-transfer (TOT) and build-operate-transfer (BOT)-Toll basis in Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Gujarat and West Bengal. Meanwhile, Adani Enterprises along with its wholly owned subsidiary company, Gare Palma II Collieries (GPIICPL) has signed coal mining agreement (CMA) with Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (MAHAGENCO) for development and operation of Gare Palma Sector II Coal Mine.

Gujarat: No hike in power tariff for consumers of state discoms

In a relief to people in Gujarat, the state Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC) has announced that power tariffs will not be hiked for the consumers of the state-owned discoms and Torrent Power Ltd (Surat area), a release said on Monday. Torrent Power caters to the consumers of Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Surat city area. State-owned Discoms include UGVCL, PGVCL, DGVCL and MGVCL. Since the model code of conduct is in force for the upcoming elections to the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation, the GERC has not passed any tariff orders for the UGVCL and the Torrent Power Limited (Ahmedabad- Gandhinagar areas). The tariff orders for these areas will be declared after the completion of the poll next month, said a release by the GERC on Monday.
