The cornerstone to the rebirth of Kings Cross as a family friendly entertainment precinct is already in jeopardy with the Minerva Theatre being placed under conditional sale.
Sources with knowledge of the deal say if the negotiations go ahead as planned, a large scale performance venue for the area - like the City of Sydney and NSW government are pinning their hopes on - would be out of the question.

Kings Cross should be revived as Sydneyâs neon heartland with bright signage like the iconic Coca-Cola billboard spreading through the precinct under a major plan to transform the area.
The former red-light district should not revert to being a residential suburb and noise complaints should be centralised through a single agency to ensure only âgenuineâ grievances are addressed, according to a highly anticipated report by urban think-tank Committee for Sydney.
