Daily Times PM calls for emergency steps in 22 high polio-risk districts August 4, 2021 Prime Minster Imran Khan Tuesday said that Palestine and Jammu & Kashmir disputes were among the principal root causes of disaffection in the Muslim world. He called for solidarity among the Muslim ummah to support the Palestinian and Kashmir causes and stressed the imperative to resolve these long-standing disputes in accordance with the resolutions of the UN Security Council and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The prime minister was talking to a delegation of the Arab Parliament, headed by its President Adel Bin Abdul Rahman Al Asoomi that called on him, PM office media wing said in a press release. The prime minister also called on Muslim countries to act collectively to counter growing Islamophobia, evident in different parts of the world. He extended a warm welcome to the president of the Arab Parliament and the accompanying delegation.

PPP criticises govt for power, gas outages July 20, 2021 ISLAMABAD: PPP Parliamentary leader in the Senate Sherry Rehman has expressed her concerns over the power and gas crisis in the country. She said power load-shedding had exceeded 5000MW amid extreme humid conditions due to mismanagement and incompetence of the PTI government. “Those who stand on a container and used to say that previous governments have installed the power plants more than need, and now load-shedding in the country has returned only due to their mismanagement and incompetence,” she said in a tweet. Sherry said currently all power plants were generating less electricity than their capacity. “Who was responsible for it and the government should tell who was responsible for 16 hours of unannounced load-shedding, as they could not absolve themselves only through an inquiry report,” she said.

PM allows stranded Pakistanis to cross Torkham

Daily Times July 14, 2021 About four hundred and fifty Pakistanis stranded at Torkham crossing after arrival from Dubai were allowed to cross into Pakistan at the special intervention of Prime Minister Imran Khan last week. These Pakistanis had arrived in Kabul through Emirates Airlines flights into Kabul as the airline has not bene flying to Pakistan because of the COVID 19 restrictions imposed by United Arab Emirates on Pakistani citizens. Interestingly though the airline continues to fly home. Pakistani desperate to get home thought that it would be easy to cross over to Pakistan from Afghanistan. When they reached Torkham they had to face double jeopardy since first the Afghan guards at the check post harassed them and said that they were not allowed to cross over and tried to extort money from them. It may be noted that Afghan Army is not being paid regularly. Besides the challenge was that Pakistan had closed the border crossing due to spread of Delta variant in Afghanistan.

June 29, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party on Monday demanded in-camera joint sitting of both the houses of parliament on the Afghanistan issue. It seems the government is sleeping on the issue of Afghanistan. We demand that the government should convene an in-camera joint sitting of both the houses of parliament to take them into confidence, said PPP Information Secretary Faisal Karim Kundi and Secretary Information PPP Parliamentarians Shahzia Atta Marri while addressing a press conference here on Monday. Shazia Marri said the recent federal government s budget was an anti-people budget and also caused worrying even among the salaried class. She said the incompetent federal government had promised 10 percent increase in salaries but didn t fulfil the promise while inflation has been increasing day-by-day.
