Michael Cross, originally from the Duluth-Two Harbors area, received the permanent station. He, his wife and two sons moved to Lake George in early December
“This was something I’ve always wanted to do and the opportunity came about, so I took it,” Cross said. “It’s what makes me who I am, my love for the outdoors.”
Previously, Cross was a full-time, career firefighter for Sioux Falls, S.D.; St. Paul and Duluth. He currently serves with the Minnesota Air National Guard 148th Fighter Wing out of Duluth.

Sanibel voters will have several choices to pick from in the city’s upcoming March 2 election.
Six people are campaigning to take up the seats currently held by Mayor Mick Denham, who is not seeking re-election, and Councilmembers Chauncey Goss and Jerry Muench, who were appointed late last year to replace former Mayor Kevin Ruane and Councilmember Jason Maughan for the interim.
The pool of candidates includes Mary Bondurant, Scott Crater, Tim Drobnyk, John Henshaw, Jason Maughan and Mike Miller. Elections held for Sanibel City Council seats are non-partisan races.

FAIRMONT Jack Noble Mackey, age 78, of Fairmont, Minn., passed away Friday morning, Jan. 29, 2021, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato, Minn. Services for Jack will be at a later date. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Jack was born June 7, 1942, in Fairmont, Minn., the son of Robert and Elizabeth (Noble) Mackey. He graduated from Fairmont High School in 1960 and attended Thief River Falls Vocational School to study aircraft mechanics. In April 1967, Jack and Mary Ellen Mackeben were married at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. They shared 22 years together until her passing in November of 1988.
