It was reported last month that Matt Riddle had been ordered to respond to the lawsuit against him from Candy Cartwright over alleged sexual assault. It seems he has done that, as PWInsider reports that Riddle filed a status report with the court on April 21. In that report, it was noted that Riddle’s lawyers tried to contact Cartwright’s lawyers through email and telephone to file a joint status report, but never heard back. He laid out the following plan:

(a) Electronically stored information (“ESI”) will be furnished in PDF or .TIFF format, unless another format is otherwise agreed upon. Prior to conducting any ESI discovery, the parties shall meet and confer on a list of custodians and search terms.

Gabe Sapolsky has filed his response to the lawsuit from Candy Cartwright over Matt Riddle’s alleged sexual assault, asking for him to be dismissed as a defendant. PWInsider reports that Sapolsky filed his response on January 8th before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division.
Sapolsky was named as a defendant along with Riddle, WWE, and EVOLVE in Cartwright’s lawsuit, which is in relation to her allegation that Riddle choked her and forced her to perform oral sex on him in May 2018 on a bus leaving EVOLVE 104 in Summit, Illinois and that afterward Riddle took actions which led to booking dates with WWE being canceled.

According to Dave Meltzer in this week s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE and Matt Riddle are close on a new three year, $1.2 million deal.
Meltzer said Riddle s deal is up in August. The new contract would be guaranteed at $400,000 per year in addition to $50,000 for every event he works in Saudi Arabia.
Meltzer added that the story is that Vince (McMahon) doesn’t understand his Bro gimmick but loves the vignettes he’s doing as he finds them hilarious.
Riddle signed with WWE in the summer of 2018 and was in NXT until the early summer of 2020, winning their tag team titles with Pete Dunne. He was called up in June and made his in-ring SmackDown debut on the same day he was accused of sexual assault by wrestler Candy Cartwright (Samantha Tavel) which he has repeatedly denied. She sued him, WWE, and EVOLVE s Gabe Sapolsky in October and WWE sought to move the case to federal court instead of municipal court earlier this month.
