Despite working a job herself, Sherri King is doing what she can to get her son Casey his unemployment benefits. He's back to work but still hasn't been paid in more than a year after being laid off for two months in 2020.
Michigan's Unemployment Insurance Agency is once again requiring claimants to submit at least one work-search activity per week to collect benefits. There are certain waivers that people can qualify for, but they have to apply.

The number of weekly jobless aid applications has fallen more than half since January.
In Michigan last week nearly 11,000 residents filed for jobless aid.
