AIZAWL: Mizoram Health minister Dr R Lalthangliana on Tuesday said the state has registered the second-highest COVID-19 infection rate in the Northeast after Assam.
In a statement, the minister said the state now is in critical condition due to the spurt in COVID-19 cases coupled with facility crunch.

This project will support the state government s efforts to deliver quality healthcare for the poor and vulnerable and those located in remote areas.
It will also focus on the proper management of bio-medical waste management in Mizoram.
Aizawl: The World Bank Board of Executive Directors has approved a USD 32 million project to improve management capacity and quality of health services in Mizoram, a world bank statement said on Thursday (April 1). The project titled Mizoram Health Systems Strengthening Project will strengthen the governance and the management structure of the Mizoram Health department and its subsidiaries, the statement said. It will improve the quality and coverage of services delivered by the state government health systems, and invest in a comprehensive quality assurance programme which would enable quality certification of health facilities, it said.

Guwahati/Agartala, Jan 16 : The eight northeastern states joined the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive on Saturday with thousands of frontline health workers across hundreds of centres getting inoculated for the infection.
Chief Ministers and Health Ministers of northeastern states formally rolled out the vaccination programme in the state capitals whereas senior health officials especially of the National Health Mission (NHM) have been constantly monitoring the inoculation drive and registering the necessary data in the Covid Vaccine Intelligence Network (CoWIN) platform.
