North Canton man returned from prison to face child-rape charges

Repository staff report CANTON – A North Canton man is accused of raping a 12-year-old child last year. According to Stark County Jail records, Darrell H. Jones, 34, of Mississippi Street SE, was brought back from prison on Monday to face felony charges of gross sexual imposition and two counts of rape. He was on parole after serving time in prison for having weapons under disability and three counts of drug possession when the allegations occurred between May 2020 and December 2020, according to Stark County court records and Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction records.  Court records show he was returned to prison after he violated his parole and, when a Stark County grand jury indicted him in February on the sex offense charges, he was still in the Lorain Correctional Institution in Grafton.

Lake municipalities collaborate to complete 109th, 101st roadwork

And town and city officials have agreed collaboration is key when seeing the projects through.  On April 8, Merrillville launched its improvement project at 101st Avenue and Mississippi Street.  Merrillville Engineering Administrator Steve King told The Times the town is widening the 101st Avenue and Mississippi Street intersection, with work expected to wrap by Memorial Day, May 31, weather depending. As part of the project, 101st will be closed to traffic between Colorado and Broadway.  The town also is reconstructing Mississippi between 101st and 93rd Avenue and widening the road to four lanes, King said.  Work is underway on the south portion of the project, with the rest to begin following Memorial Day. The work is slated to be complete by the end of November, King said.

Like many young boys his age, he s always dreamed of being a cowboy.  The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana intends to take him to a dude ranch, but the coronavirus pandemic has delayed that plan. But the Macy s department store at Southlake Mall in Hobart stepped up to grant Bryce his wish of being a cowboy before he will get to visit an actual dude ranch out west. Macy s surprised Bryce and his family with a cowboy-themed experience Monday in the parking lot at the Southlake Mall at U.S. 30 and Mississippi Street in Hobart. He got some western duds — including a cowboy hat, boots, leather vest, jeans and bandana — from the department store chain. He then was given roping and whip-cracking lessons from a real-life cowboy.
