Ontis leaving Alton comptroller post

ALTON Aldermen on Wednesday night learned that Alton City Comptroller Kirby Ontis is leaving to join the finance department of a St. Louis area hospital.
Ontis said his first assignment was to oversee construction of a flood wall in Alton in May 2017. Since then, he said, the city has experienced at least one major event each year.
“Through all those episodes of adversity, I saw the grit and perseverance of the city of Alton certainly shine through,” Ontis said.
He gave thanks to what he described as “the best department heads and employees I have ever had the privilege to serve with.
