Manager Paul Cook says the Blues players to “step up to the plate a lot more than they have been doing” if they want to stay at the club ahead of what he believes will be exciting times under the Blues new ownership.
Gill: Takeover Came As a Surprise But It s Exciting, Massive For the Club
Saturday, 10th Apr 2021 18:34
First-team coach Matt Gill admits that news of Town’s takeover came as a surprise to him when it was announced on Wednesday but says it’s exciting and a massive thing for the club. Gill was asked to cover the post-match press conference by manager Paul Cook, who also skipped Friday’s pre-match meeting with the media.
Reflecting on the 0-0 draw with the MK Dons, the Blues’ second successive stalemate with three of the last four Town matches having ended goalless, Gill said: “A good clean sheet, another clean sheet. There are lots of positives to take from today. We need to be slightly better in the attacking half, obviously.

Town recorded their third 0-0 draw in four matches as the first game under their new ownership ended in a stalemate with the MK Dons at Portman Road. Sub Freddie Sears went closest for the Blues in the second half when he looped an effort wide with visiting keeper Andrew Fisher out of his goal.
Flynn Downes returned to the Blues line-up with Armando Dobra and Aaron Drinan also coming into the team as manager Paul Cook switched what appeared to be Plan D as he looked to get Town’s play-off push back on track.
Adkins: Keane Contract Option to Be Discussed at End of Season
Monday, 1st Apr 2019 13:00
Hull City boss Nigel Adkins says the Tigers will decide whether to take up their one-year option on striker Will Keane’s contract at the end of the season.
“I saw Will before the game,” Adkins said when asked about Keane’s situation following his side s 2-0 victory over the Blues on Saturday.
“We played him at Leeds, our last away win [2-0, in December], he played the 90 minutes there and to be fair to Will he needed to go and play football.
“Fraizer Campbell had been our mainline striker, so Will hadn’t figured that much so it was important for him because we’d got Fraizer Campbell, Chrissy Martin, Nouha Dicko and Will Keane, they were the four strikers and we’ve only been playing with one central striker.

In his latest On Air in Suffolk column, broadcaster Stephen Foster remembers interviewing legendary Ipswich Town manager Sir Bobby Robson.
Oh my lads you should have seen their faces
Walking down Portman Road to see Bob Robson s aces
Based on the Geordie folk song Blaydon Races, that was a chant that ll be familiar to all Ipswich Town fans during the Robson era. Just the thought of those incredible years which culminated in the club lifting the UEFA Cup still makes me dewy-eyed.
Sir Bobby, as he became in 2002, began his time as Ipswich manager in early 1969. His arrival came only days after I d visited Portman Road for the first time. My Dad took me to a match against Burnley which Town won two nil thanks to goals by Ray Crawford and Mick Mills.
