India has become the first country in the world to reach the5 million COVID-19 vaccination mark in just 21 days, the Union Health Ministry said as nearly 53 lakh beneficiaries have been administered shots under the countrywide inoculation exercise till Friday evening. The USA, the UK and Israel have reached 5 million vaccinations in 24, 43 and 45 simultaneous days respectively. The countrywide COVID-19 vaccination program was conducted successfully on the twenty-first day as well, the ministry said. The cumulative number of healthcare workers vaccinated against COVID-19 is nearly 53 lakhs.

Post-mortem examination on the two-and-half-month-old baby girl, who died within a few hours of taking bivalent Oral Polio Vaccine (bOPV) on Sunday, was completed on Monday. Officials were yet to receive the report.
The infant did not suffer from fever or any health complications. However, officials from the Telangana Health department said the vaccination might not be the reason as 17 more children were given the vaccine from the same vial and none of them developed any adverse effect.

At Anantnag, Deputy Commissioner, Anshul Garg inaugurated Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) Programme, 2021 at Maternity & Childcare Hospital Anantnag. The DC started the campaign by administering oral anti-polio vaccine drops to the newborn infants in presence of CMO and Superintendent M & CCH Anantnag.
CMO Anantnag, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad on the occasion informed the DC that 146152 children will be administered pulse polio drops in the district. He added that 650 pulse polio booths have been setup in the district, besides, 14 transit booths have also been established for the effective and successful implementation of the programme.
