Controversial homes plan for Monmouthshire village approved

But councillors supported a recommendation by planning officers to approve the plans at a meeting on Tuesday. Speaking in support, Cllr Roger Harris said: “We have been made aware that there are 700 plus households in Abergavenny that are desperate for affordable housing. “This site is going to be run by a housing association, 100 per cent affordable.” Cllr Mat Feakins said there is “a significant need” in Monmouthshire for affordable housing. “There are not many as sustainable locations as Abergavenny, which this site can provide,” he added. Six two-bedroom houses and six three-bedroom houses are proposed either side of a new entrance to the site.

Monmouthshire Council can t approve Llantilio Pertholey homes

The directive has been issued to allow consideration of whether the plans should be determined by Welsh ministers, instead of the council, following a request for the plans to be ‘called-in.’ Six two-bedroom houses and six three-bedroom houses are proposed on a grazed field which slopes from Hereford Road to the River Gavenny. The proposal goes against the council’s Local Development Plan (LDP) as the site is located outside of the Abergavenny development boundary. St Teilo s Church in Llantilio Pertholey. Homes approved for former council site in Blandford

A HOMES scheme for the former North Dorset district council site at Norden, Blandford will be built – but without a guarantee all 40 will be ‘affordable.’ Dorset councillors were told that, legally, the council is unable to enforce the 100per cent affordable home pledge made by developer, Aster. Senior planning officer Robert Lennis said that the best the council can achieve is a legal agreement for around a third of the homes. He said that anything more would cause problems for Aster in gaining funding from Homes England for the development. Planning officers say they are confident that the housing group will keep to its promise despite the concerns of several councillors at its Northern Area planning committee on Tuesday.
