The district administration on Wednesday invoked Section 144 of the Cr.PC for tightening restrictions in four more grama panchayats in the district for curbing the spread of COVID-19.
Prohibitory orders have been issued in Kalliyoor, Athiyannoor, Parassala and Madavoor panchayats as the test positivity rate has crossed 25%, District Collector Navjot Khosa said.
In these panchayats, not more than five people may assemble for functions in places of worship and public places.
The number should not exceed 25 for marriages and other public functions. Moreover, such events should be registered in advance on the COVID-19 Jagratha portal. Commercial establishments other than those selling provisions, fruits and vegetables and medical stores and petrol pumps should down shutters by 7.30

Officials deputed for vote counting duty on May 2 will be issued the second dose of Covishield at the taluk offices on Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The second dose of Covaxin will be administered at the District Collectorate, District Collector Navjot Khosa said.
Candidates and agents are required to produce a negative RT-PCR/rapid antigen test report issued within 48 hours of the start of counting or the vaccination (both doses) certificate for entering the counting halls.

Told to ensure a minimum of 250 ICU beds, 100 ventilators
With the district reporting more than 2,000 COVID-19 cases daily, the district administration has directed the Government Medical College Hospital (MCH), Thiruvananthapuram, to urgently free up beds for critically ill COVID-19 patients.
In an April 23 order, District Collector Navjot Khosa directed the Superintendent, MCH, to immediately free up non-COVID beds occupied by patients who do not require emergency care so that 700 beds are available by Sunday and 1,400 beds by April 30.

TPR crosses 25%, curbs in place till it drops below 20% Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.PC) has been clamped by the District Collector in 10 panchayats in the capital district to contain COVID-19. The test positivity rate (TPR) had crossed 25% in these local bodies in the past four days.
The relevant restrictions will be in force in Aruvikkara, Amboori, Karode, Perumkadavila, Kattakada, Andoorkonam, Kollayil, Uzhamalackal, Kunnathukal, and Aryankode panchayats till the TPR drops under 20%, District Collector Navjot Khosa said.
Attendees in all public gatherings, including places of worship, have been limited to five. Total number of attendees in marriages and other gatherings has been restricted to 25 in these local bodies.
