One of the last Holden Commodores to be produced in Adelaide has been snapped up at auction with a top bid of $750,000.
The VF Series II SSV Redline sedan was given the final vehicle serial number and was the last to travel through the body and paint shops at the company s Elizabeth plant, which closed in 2017.
However, parent group General Motors still owns an identical Commodore which carries the ceremonial title of the last car Holden produced in Australia.
It was the final vehicle to go through the general assembly process and remains on loan to the National Motor Museum at Birdwood, northeast of Adelaide.
Holden enthusiasts have a chance to get their hands on an exclusive piece of Australian automotive history, but it is set to come with a hefty price tag.
The last Holden Commodore built in Australia is going under the hammer in an online auction, sparking "phenomenal" interest from collectors and enthusiasts.
The last ever Holden is about to go under the hammer and is expected to fetch upwards of half a million dollars.
The pristine Holden VF series two SSV Redline was the final car body to be manufactured at Australia s only remaining Holden plant at Elizabeth in Adelaide, before it closed in October 2017.
The vehicle s condition is as it left the factory, with only 102 kilometres on the dial and still covered by protective plastic.
