Finger Lakes Health is introducing a new golf-inspired fundraising event for the summer.
The ‘108 Holes for Hearts’ is a virtual golf fundraising event, to benefit cardiac rehab scholarships at the Geneva General Hospital and Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital sites.
Over the past 33 years, thousands of patients from all over the Finger Lakes have benefited from high quality education and monitored exercise through the nationally certified outpatient cardiac rehabilitation programs at Finger Lakes Health. The programs’ dedicated professionals give patients the support and tools they need to develop and maintain a heart healthy lifestyle, in small groups with others that have had similar heart disease experiences.

Rabid fox attacks three women now undergoing treatment for injuries and rabies infection.
BARRINGTON – Three women were injured in separate attacks the afternoon of March 24 in the 900 block area of East Lake Road on Keuka Lake in the town of Barrington.
According to the reports filed by Yates County Animal Control Officer Tom Morris, around 2 p.m., Emily O Brien, 69, of 870 East Lake Road, was walking on the beach when she was bitten several times on the leg in an unprovoked attack by an aggressive fox. She was able to kick the animal away and was taken to Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital in Penn Yan for treatment.

Finger Lakes Health Rehabilitation Services will be conducting a free monthly Community Mobility Screening Program on Thursday, March 18 in the rehabilitation department at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, 418 North Main Street, Penn Yan and at Garnsey Outpatient Rehabilitation Center at Geneva General Hospital,196 North Street, Geneva. This program is open to all individuals over the age of 65.
The screening will measure participant’s scores on tests that predict their risk for falls, recognize strength deficits and balance issues as compared to peers.

Finger Lakes Health recently honored Michael Bonner, a registered nurse who works on 2 West at Geneva General Hospital, with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.
Bonner has been with Finger Lakes Health for two years. He was nominated by Elisha Gulvin, a patient’s family member.
“I have been in many aspects of the medical field and not all health care workers are as passionate about their jobs as Mike Bonner,” she said. “Mike blew me out of the water with his love, compassion and understanding of his patient’s needs; his gentleness; his informative communication; and his true kindness.
