The Kolakowski family is proud to award the 29th Annual Henry S. Kolakowski Jr. Memorial Scholarships. Ten scholarships of $1,000.00 have been awarded. The total of this yearâs scholarship awards was $10,000 and this brings the 29 year distribution total to two hundred thirty scholarships paying out $265,650.
This scholarship was established in October of 1991 and is given in the memory of Henry S. Kolakowski Jr. Henry Kolakowski served as an educator, administrator, counselor and student advocate in the communities of Meriden and Wallingford for 34 years.
He took personal pride in assisting as many students as he could, usually giving 110 percent to his job. Mr. Kolakowski started his educational career locally in 1957 where he worked as a history teacher at Meriden High School, which later became Platt High in 1958. In 1964, he took a position as guidance counselor, later becoming the Guidance Director at Sheehan High Sc
