Covid-19: how post came out fighting

New film on Inverclyde music scene inspires drummer to delve into 90s gigs scrapbook

Tele memories from her time in a popular Greenock band in the nineties. Drummer Lesley McLaren dug out her scrapbooks from her days in Elysian Fields, who played all over Inverclyde and gigged in Glasgow. Lesley, who drums in Clare Grogan s Altered Images and in Lola in Slacks, diligently documented every gig the band played between 1996 and 1998. She kept all of the gig guides that appeared in the Telegraph and cut out all of the stories and pics of the band featured in the paper. The drumming tutor unearthed her collection to help her friend, Largs writer and director Andy McGregor, who is currently working on a short film and a play focused on Greenock s music scene in the nineties.

Gourock shop drums up customers with special guest

A FANCY dress character did a great job of drumming up customers as part of a Gourock street s bid to lure shoppers. She took up a spot in the window of popular Gourock shop, the Pirate and Bluebelle, owned by business partners Heather McCulloch and Nick Summers, for performances throughout the day. It was part of the 12 Days of Kempock Street celebration - organised by residents of the street Martin McCluskey and his partner Ben Walsh. REVIEW: Theatre-on-screen performance has charm, but not enough magic

ONCE upon a time there was a glaikit Scottish elf called Hari who worked for Santa Claus in his Lapland retreat. One day, during a tea break, he took the North Star out of the Star Bag and, alongside his deer friends Prancer, Dancer and Vixen, he proceeded to play football with it. The problem was, reindeer are really good at football (what with having four legs and all), and they booted the North Star off the planet and into a supermassive black hole. With no North Star to guide him, Santa won’t be able to deliver his presents to the world’s children!
