The CDC say millions are going without their second coronavirus shots. In their report, they say it s about 8% of people nationwide.
Dr. Karen Landers with the Alabama Department of Public Health says that right now, most Alabamians are coming back for their second coronavirus shots. A number of our clinics are reporting 94 to 95% of patients coming back for their second dose, said Dr. Karen Landers with the Alabama Department of Public Health. Alabama was doing quite well in terms of persons returning for the second dose. We re over 91, 92% and again, some of our clinics are much higher.

Marshall Medical Centers has two new machines that use UV light to disinfect. Our patients and staff need to know that we are doing everything possible to keep them safe from germs and viruses, said Jonathan Smith, director of surgical services.

The machine, called Thor, scans the room and reports how long it ll take to disinfect. It s very good for our staff that they can feel safe in the room after they ve been cleaned and disinfected, said Kathy Woodruff.

After Gov. Kay Ivey revised the state s safer at home order this week, hospitals in North Alabama are making changes to their visitor policies.
A group of hospitals within the Huntsville Hospital Health System (HHHS) are now allowing non-COVID patients to have two guests with them.
Jennifer Barksdale said her due date is just two days away and is thankful for the changes.
