Offices to Close Memorial Day 2021
April 30, 2021
The Marshall County Board of Public Utilities at 624 West Commerce Street, Lewisburg will be closed Monday, May 31, 2021, in observance of Memorial Day. The office will reopen Tuesday, June 1st at 8:00 am.
What People Are Saying In 2013, the Lewisburg Animal Shelter Volunteers began a twice-weekly program on WJJM called “Marshall County Pet Patrol”. The purpose was two-fold, first to talk about new intakes with the hope of finding their rightful owners and second, to help find adopters by describing all of our current residents in detail. The results have far exceeded our expectations, and thanks in a big way to our radio exposure our adoption rates have increased significantly. Thank you to the entire staff at WJJM, and our sponsor, Veterinary Services of Chapel Hill…together we are saving the lives of precious fur babies.

Marshall County resident Julie Pickard has been trying to purchase 7.1 acres of Eden township railroad land from Marshall County and brought safety concerns to the Marshall County Board of Supervisors.
Pickard, who attended the regular Tuesday meeting via Zoom, gave a presentation on what she has been trying to accomplish and some history of the situation.
It starts in 1972 between her father and the railroad when Pickard’s father was given permission to use a right-of-way west of Highway 330. In July, Pickard met with the Marshall County Conservation Board to propose buying the land, but has been turned down. She said her family uses the property all of the time and they already have an access agreement.
