Jan. 27 Timberland Regional Library is set to open a new branch at Capital Mall on April 1, the executive director told a Lacey City Council committee on Tuesday.

And the library district wants to do the same in Hawks Prairie, executive director Cheryl Heywood said.
Neither branch will be full-service lending libraries, but will focus on best-sellers for all ages and in all formats, she said. They also are considered demonstration libraries, meaning they will operate for a trial period of a year or longer to gauge whether they are successful.

SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. A Shelby County man is charged after investigators said he fired at a car going past his home.
According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a shooting on Marvin Road in north Shelby County Sunday, January 10th. A man said he had been driving down Marvin Road when a man fired a gun at his car, hitting the victim in the left arm. He was stable when taken to Regional One.

Dec. 14 Northeast Lacey is no stranger to large warehouses, and now the City Council is considering whether to allow them on a particular parcel that is zoned for light industrial commercial uses.
Doesn t the city already allow this? No, the large, even giant warehouses that dot Hawks Prairie, occupy land that is zoned light industrial, not the more specific light industrial commercial.
And the light industrial commercial zoning has capped warehouse sizes at 200,000 square feet since 2006, city planning commission manager Ryan Andrews said.
