Bassett spruced up thanks to 8-year-old litter-picker Izzy

TIDY-MINDED Izzy Cracknell is cleaning up the streets of Royal Wootton Bassett on her morning walk to school. The eight-year-old decided to do her bit for the environment by taking her litter picker and filling a bin bag on her way to Noremarsh Juniors. She said: “I wanted to do it because I kept seeing litter everywhere, so I wanted to clean up and help the environment. “The litter hurts the environment and we must help to clean up and do our bit. “I’ve only been doing it for a few weeks and already I’ve noticed a difference, which is really good,” she said. “I filled up a bag every day, but recently it hasn’t been filling up.

A RESERVED matters application has been submitted to BCP Council after permission was granted in 2018 to demolish a care home and build a block of 36 apartments. Pure Town Planning had permission granted to demolish the vacant Marlborough Care Home in Bournemouth Road to build a block of flats with basement parking. A planning statement said: “It is proposed to demolish the existing vacant nursing home buildings in their entirety and erect a block of 36 residential flats comprising one, two and three bed units with associated access and basement parking provision. “The amount of accommodation has been driven by the need to introduce a high quality and modern living arrangement on the site whilst respecting the character of the surroundings, maintaining the gaps between the associated buildings and not introducing any opportunity for overlooking on either the existing neighbouring properties on both Marlborough Road and Richmond Road, or the respective future occupiers
