The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office said Louis Williams, 36, has been suspended without pay pending a termination hearing. Williams, who has worked for the sheriff’s office since March 2020, admitted to investigators that he was paid $1,000 to deliver a package to an inmate. Inside the package, investigators said, were 39 doses of Suboxone and 22.76 grams of synthetic marijuana, known commonly as “mojo.”

New Orleans Officer Killed In Alleged Mask Dispute Died a Hero, Saved Lives On 3/1/21 at 4:48 AM EST Tributes have been paid to the New Orleans police officer shot dead while intervening in an alleged dispute over masks during a high school basketball game. Tulane University Police Officer Martinus Mitchum was shot and killed on Friday while working at George Washington Carver High School in the 3000 block of Higgins Boulevard. Mitchum, a Tulane University police officer who was also a reserve deputy 2nd City Court constable, was working security detail at a George Washington Carver High School basketball game when the shooting occurred.
