Multicultural Fingal celebrated in Xmas song

Every year, Christmas time is synonymous with singing and this year is no different in Balbriggan where a team of Fingal musicians has been working tirelessly this month to keep culture alive. In partnership with Our Balbriggan, the Irish Institute of Music and Song has released a beautiful Christmas message in the form of a multilingual Christmas song. The video features a poignant rendition of Mariah Carey s festive hit All I Want for Christmas is You , sung by children and young families in 11 different languages. Balbriggan is the most culturally diverse town in Ireland and, according to the most recent census, the most spoken languages in Balbriggan after English are Polish, Lithuanian and French.

Compensation of €1,000 paid for dog bite to woman s hand

The owner of a dangerous dog that bit a woman s hand leaving her without feeling in her fingers had his case struck out after he paid €1,000 in compensation. Adam Derlega (36) did not have a muzzle on his Staffordshire Bull Terrier and did not keep his dog under control while out walking at Martello Tower in Balbriggan contrary to the Control of Dogs Regulations. The defendant s dog, whose breed is on the list of dangerous dogs, bit Jean Ferris left hand. However, he and the dog did not remain in the area afterwards. The defendant, of Baron s Hall Grove in Balbriggan, Co Dublin pleaded guilty to having no dog licence, no muzzle on the dog in a public place and failing to keep control of his dog in a public place on April 22 at Martello Tower in Balbriggan.
