Go Ahead Fantasize

Go Ahead. Fantasize. Imagining a better future, whether it includes gigantic house parties or just more hugs, helps humans cope with difficult times. Oh, to breathe the same air!Credit.Daniel Arnold for The New York Times Jan. 16, 2021 Teddy Johnson has a very clear fantasy for what he’s going to do the day the pandemic is “over” whatever that day might look like, and whenever it may be. He’s banking on the day being sunny, perhaps the temperature of early summer. “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” by Whitney Houston will be playing everywhere on the streets of New York City, where he lives; on the subway; and definitely in the club where Mr. Johnson will gather with all his friends. He will wear a cropped white tank top with speckles of paint all over it with his favorite pair of tight bell-bottoms and stunner sunglasses.

Childhood Overindulgence Can Lead to Learned Helplessness [Experts Reveal]

Share Experts reveal that overindulgence can lead to learned helplessness. Dr. David J Bredehoft shared in an article in Psychology Today how overindulgence can cause children to be helpless. Unconsciously, parents teach their children helplessness when they practice overindulgence or doing everything for their children. It is either because they do not want to make their children feel disappointed or because they no longer want to go through the hassle of teaching their children. Whatever the reason may be, experts say that overindulgence can lead to learned helplessness. ALSO READ:  What is learned helplessness? In the 1960s the principle of learned helplessness was introduced by Martin Seligman and Steven Maier. This principle was first observed in research among dogs.

Around Town: Negativity kills

Around Town: Negativity kills For the Victorville Daily Press I spend a great deal of space ruminating about political decisions, laws and the people who make them. This tends to skew my perspective to the negative. As a moderately conservative person in a state run by ultra-liberals, my view of most state government decisions is not rosy. I told my editor if this pandemic ever receded, I would like to do more local stories with a positive slant. Those are hard to come by when everyone is locked up and not circulating. I overheard my WFL (wife for life) talking with her sister-in-law on the phone the other day. They observed that both I and her brother were doggedly negative, while they saw themselves as most always seeing the brighter, more positive side of an issue or problem. I countered with “No I am just a realist.” My WFL laughed. “Wait” I protested, “I am positive. I am positive that things are terrible.”
