Australia’s former top public servant says the government’s communication of policies that have upset China have further inflamed the deteriorating relationship.
A SUPERFAN of iconic Saturday morning children’s show Tiswas is hunting for an Ilkley lad who appeared as a competition winner in 1979. Marc Neun, who is an archivist for the television series, is trying to track down Martin Parkinson so he can see the episode for the first time in 41 years. Marc, 46, of Hampshire, said: “Being a fan of the programme has led to my involvement in many fan clubs and online activity. I have a large collection of episodes donated by Chris Tarrant and Sally James. “There are a few of us that own the only surviving episodes. ITV company ATV wiped most of the tapes, so these are rare finds. On a 1979 Tiswas appeared a competition winner called Martin Parkinson. He chats to Chris Tarrant and says he’s from Ilkley. He was a pupil of St Mary’s School. It’s quite a comical encounter and I am trying to track down Martin so he can see the episode for the first time in 41 years. Martin has probably never seen himself on Tiswas as video recor

It also won work while Pyne was minister for defence industry, including in 2017 when he said Elbit would help work on a new $1.4bn battlefield command system for the army.
Ministers are prohibited from lobbying in relation to anything they had official dealings with for 18 months after they leave office.
Pyne’s exclusion period ended on 29 November 2020. His firm began lobbying for Elbit in December, according to Pyne and Partners managing director Adam Howard, who was previously Pyne’s former chief of staff.
“Pyne and Partners looks forward to working with Australian defence companies to help grow Australia’s economy and our national security,” Howard said.
The departmental secretary, Phil Gaetjens, released the results of five waves of the citizen experience survey of a total of 15,000 Australians on Tuesday.
Speaking to the Institute of Public Administration Australia, Gaetjens admitted that “the picture wasn’t encouraging back in March 2019” when the survey was first conducted.
In August, the department released partial results, which were first sought by Guardian Australia in August 2019 but were blocked over departmental fears they could “mislead and confuse rather than inform” the public.
The internal report stated that in March 2019 “trust in the public service [was] low” with less than one-third of respondents (31%) reporting they can trust Australian public services.
