A lack of large performance venues in the area the Marina Civic Center and the Martin Theatre downtown were both damaged by the storm and are yet to reopen has meant using school auditoriums to stage plays in the interim, which has translated to fewer potential ticket sales. And ticket sales are the lifeblood of the volunteer organization.
Then came COVID-19. KT has come a long way over the last half a century by the grace of God and volunteers, but the challenge has never been greater, said Sandy Wilson, a co-founder of the theater. Putting on plays is a challenge in good times. Having to find other places to perform and meeting COVID requirements and trying to tempt audiences to come back is making it almost overwhelming.

EUFAULA, Ala. (WTVM) - A well known landmark in Eufaula is getting a facelift.
Renovations are now underway for Martin Theatre that’s located downtown.
According to officials with Main Street Eufaula, the theatre has been vacant for several decades. Now that the space has been donated to the city, officials are hoping to turn it into an event space or weddings, concerts, and more.
Ann Spars, the director of Main Street Eufaula, said the whole community looks forward to having the upgraded theatre.

Like many children of Russian immigrants who settled in Chattanooga, Moses Lebovitz realized the American Dream of rising from poverty to substantial wealth.
“Mr. Mose” was born in Chattanooga in 1905 and died June 27, 1991 at the age of 86.
He was a graduate of Chattanooga High School on 3
rd Street and then studied business and finance at the University of Chattanooga.
Subsequent to that period he served his country in the United States Army.
His first entrepreneurial success came in the movie theater industry when he became a partner in Independent Theaters which owned and operated many properties in the Tri-State region and the South.
Martin Theatre hosts mini musicians, country singers at the Majestic
PANAMA CITY BEACH The Martin Theatre is bringing two musical performances to the beach this weekend.
The 39th The Martin Presents. series will start with Country Rewind playing classic country music of the 1960s-70s at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22. Nashville recording artists, the duo of AJ Swearingen and Jayne Kelli, will perform. The season ticket price is $180, though individual tickets are also available for each show. Then a fundraising performance for the nonprofit Many Mini Musicians, Young Artists Spotlight will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23.
