Police have now launched a probe in the incident, urging anyone with information to come forward. It comes as a man was arrested after bottles were hurled in Southend, forcing officers to shut the high street to keep people safe. A 21-year-old man from north Benfleet was arrested by police after throwing bottles in Southchurch Road. The high street was later cordoned off so people could be dispersed safely. Council bosses have slammed the behaviour of football hooligans, urging people to stay safe when watching the match.
