Design has become a new art movement according to Ruben de la Rive Box and Golnar Roshan, who are using industrial design processes to explore the qualities of light, colour and reflection.
The Amsterdam-based design duo, collectively known as Rive Roshan, are presenting a series of sculptural objects and installations in the exhibition Shifting Perspectives, which opens this week at Museum Jan in Amstelveen.

These works are designed to highlight natural phenomena, such as the reflection of light on water, or the way a shadow falls on a surface.
The space, open until April 8, is designed by Nelson Chow, founder of NC Design and Architecture. “I want my designs to tell a story,” he explains. “To bring people on a journey through time and space.”
Chow has designed 10 separate experiences within the building, drawing inspiration from the pieces themselves like the Anemona Table (showcased for the first time in its new, circular shape) and the images it conjures of coral reefs beneath the sea as well as its historic surroundings. One of the city’s last remaining pre-war buildings, Pedder Building’s character speaks for itself, and is reflected in certain spaces.
