The rules require a maximum capacity of 100… as well as physical distancing between patrons… and a rule that food and drink concessions must remain closed.
For many small town movie theaters, the restrictions are just too much – and they still can’t open. Rick Schmitt with Frankfort’s Garden Theater says, “There’s no way to sugarcoat it. It’s not good. We really haven’t had any revenue since March. And that’s our choice. The reality for us is that particularly in winter it’s just such a beast to heat this building. If we can’t guarantee some revenue it’s better to keep it at 50 (degrees) and just not open.”
