MARQUETTE, Mich – A Marquette Branch Prison sergeant was released from the hospital Tuesday following an inmate assault.
The man was taken to the hospital for possible injuries after a prisoner punched him in the head.
The fight occurred when the sergeant was attempting to break up a fight involving multiple prisoners
The dispute is believed to be gang related.
A total of 11 prisoners are believed to be involved in the incident, according to MDOC.
Restrictions in the maximum security portion of the prison were still in place on Tuesday.
As of that day, no charges have been filed against the prisoners involved.
