DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings are eager to see how Joe Veleno looks as an NHL center before the season winds down.
Veleno, after taking part in several optional practices and gameday skates, experienced his first full practice with the Red Wings on Monday.
He was not immediately cleared to play from concussion protocol but could receive clearance later in the day or in the morning, in time for a potential NHL debut Tuesday in Columbus (7 p.m., Bally Sports Detroit Plus). If not Tuesday, then soon.

Rematch time for the first two losses in Dallas in this four game series. They’re in our house now. Of course, we’re missing even more people, including Dylan Larkin. Michael Rasmussen is our top center.
The Stars are playing Mark Pysyk at forward on a night where elsewhere in the league Brendan Smith scored a goal.
First Period.
22 seconds into the game, Thomas Greiss has to make his first high-danger save. Buckle in. The good early news is that the Vrana-Rasmussen-Zadina line definitely looks like it could be fun if somehow the Wings can put together a few shifts from literally any other line.

DETROIT – Maybe the Detroit Red Wings won’t miss Anthony Mantha’s offense that much.
Jakub Vrana, Mantha’s replacement, scored four goals Thursday to lift the Red Wings to a 7-3 victory over the Dallas Stars at Little Caesars Arena.
It was Vrana’s first career four-goal game, his second hat trick. He has five goals in four games since the April 12 trade that brought him and Richard Panik – who scored his first goal as a Red Wing on Thursday – to Detroit, along with first- and second-round picks, for Mantha.
