Saudi-based Twitter accounts using fake profile pictures, repetitive wording and spammy tactics sought to undermine the conclusion by U.S. intelligence officials, made public Friday, that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman approved the operation that led to the killing of Washington Post contributing columnist Jamal Khashoggi in 2018.

Twitter has announced the removal and investigation of thousands of accounts that it said were involved in spam activity, following the release of the US intelligence report into the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
The US intelligence report, the executive summary of which was published on Friday, publicly concluded that Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was responsible for Khashoggi s assassination in his kingdom s Istanbul consulate in October 2018.
Bahrain s Arab Spring is sometimes called the forgotten uprising - ignored by the media and the world. It is perhaps fairer to say that what happened in Bahrain was swallowed up in the many other tragic events occurring in the Middle East at the time.
But the lack of attention does not undo the brutality or tragedy of Bahrain s uprising - or even the scale.
