Weekly crime log, Feb 20-27

There were four related reports of fraud on Feb. 25 and Feb. 26, three occuring at Love Library South and one at the Nebraska Union. Several University of Nebraska-Lincoln students let someone borrow their phone to make a call, but the person transferred money to themselves through a money transfer app, according to the UNL Police Department’s Daily Crime & Fire log.  UNLPD officers know who was making the fraudulent money transfers and are finishing up paperwork on the cases, according to Sgt. Margot Nason. From Feb. 21-27, the most frequently reported incidents were possession of narcotics and fraud — including con games, deception, false pretense and other — with four reports each. Weekly Crime Log, Feb 12-19

A University of Nebraska-Lincoln non-affiliate reported a belated sexual assault on Feb. 16 at Selleck Quad, according to the UNL Police Department’s Daily Crime & Fire log.  UNLPD sent a safety message to students on Feb. 17 about the case to the student body. The case is still open, according to the crime log. From Feb. 14-20, the most frequently reported crimes were possession of narcotics, trespassing and unintentional, non-traffic property damage with three reports. Medical emergency and minor in possession of alcohol followed with two reports. Some individuals had a disturbance with housing staff on Feb. 15 at Abel Hall about thrown vegetables and a broken hand sanitizer station, according to Sgt. Margot Nason. UNLPD officers are still working on this case, according to Nason.

Weekly Crime Log, Feb 7-11

On Feb. 11, there were several reports of stolen tools and equipment from a construction site at Nebraska Hall, according to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Police Department Daily Crime & Fire log.  The first report had batteries, power tools, drills, grinders, a jigsaw and a SAWZALL reciprocating saw stolen, which added up to $2,050, according to Sgt. Margot Nason. The second report had batteries and an impact driver stolen, which added up to $350, according to Nason.  The third report had a drill and batteries stolen, which added up to $349, and the fourth report added up to $1,012 with faucets, a bandsaw, a radio speaker system and batteries stolen, according to Nason.
