Summer camp activities suspended after 5 kids test positive for COVID-19 Published: July 23, 2021 6:13 PM EDT Updated: July 23, 2021 6:23 PM EDT Recommended After five campers tested positive for COVID-19, the fun at a summer camp on Marco Island came to a halt. Campers will get to finish their last week of camp on August 2 but, for now, safety has to proceed fun. The Marco Island City Manager says he plans to do some contact tracing and testing with staff. The building and parts of this park will undergo deep cleaning so campers can close out the summer safely. At Mackle Park Friday, there weren’t any campers running around the fields, at the water park or inside the community center.

Marco Island shuts down city-run camps after campers test positive for COVID-19 Published: July 22, 2021 10:16 PM EDT Updated: July 22, 2021 10:19 PM EDT Recommended The City of Marco Island announced Thursday it will temporarily close its camps after the Parks and Recreation Department recently reported five positive COVID-19 cases among campers. According to the city’s press release, Mackle Park will be closed Friday through Sunday and will reopen to the public Monday. The facility will be deep cleaned while it’s closed. The city said it’s following CDC guidelines, and camp will be closed from July 23 through July 30. Camp will reopen Aug. 2.
