Ballpark at Jackson set to host Nitro Circus in October

WBBJ TV May 12, 2021 JACKSON, Tenn. Nitro Circus is coming to Jackson for the first time in October. The Jackson Generals announced Wednesday that the You Got This tour will stop at the Ballpark at Jackson on Saturday, Oct. 16, according to a news release. The stop is a part of Nitro Circus’ North American tour, which will make stops in more than 25 cities across the country this year, the release says. Nitro Circus shows include freestyle motorcross, skating, and more, as well as the 45-foot Giganta ramp. “This show will be nothing short of insane,” said Generals GM Marcus Sabata. “This show was fan requested and we couldn’t be happier to host the event in Jackson. We’ve never hosted an event like this at the ballpark before, but it promises to be a night to remember.”

Ballpark announcement raises concerns from city

WBBJ TV May 7, 2021 JACKSON, Tenn. As we reported Thursday, the Jackson Generals announced they’ve invited the Winnepeg Goldeyes to play ball at the Ballpark at Jackson for the summer. But did they have the authority to do so? That’s what the City of Jackson is now calling into question. Late Thursday afternoon, the City of Jackson issued their response. It calls the club’s announcement “inaccurate,” saying the city actually owns the Ballpark at Jackson and lease it to the Generals. Also, because Jackson Generals lost their AA baseball affiliation, their lease to use the ballpark has been terminated. And the city was unaware the ball club made this unauthorized agreement with the Goldeyes.

Generals announce events as city says team has to leave Ballpark

WBBJ TV May 6, 2021 The Generals announced plans to expand entertainment at the Ballpark for this summer and into next year. State Rep. Chris Todd says the additional entertainment options at the Ballpark will help give the community more opportunity for entertainment. “I think a lot of folks are excited about that. We missed last year, and I think folks are ready to get back out and enjoy some good baseball, and wrestling, and concerts, so there’s a lot of things planned for the Ballpark,” Todd said. But the events are just the beginning. After losing their major league affiliation, the Ballpark announced Thursday that they will still have baseball this summer.

A full schedule will be released later. The home schedule kick off is currently set for May 21 through May 23. For more information, click here.
