It was all Nets and a bonafide Brooklyn blowout Thursday night.
Without James Harden and Blake Griffin, the Nets drew on LaMarcus Aldridge and he shined in his Nets debut as Brooklyn defeated Charlotte, 111-89. With the win, the Nets remain on top of the East with a 34-15 record and have now won 20 of their last 23 games and seven home wins in a row. Nets are now 20-6 at Barclays Center for the season.
“It was a great win. One of the best starts maybe since before the break so that was positive. It’s a very good team. We obviously shot the ball well but we defended,” Steve Nash said postgame. “We got into people and our communication was great, we rebounded and we took care of business. Proud of the guys. That was a tough game back-to-back - a tough little stretch here and we had a good week.”

Nicolas Claxton has burst onto the scene, becoming a valuable piece in the Nets’ success. His success as a second-year player has put Steve Nash and the Nets in an uncommon situation.
While it doesn’t take an eye test to see Claxton deserves more minutes on the floor or that it’s legitimate to discuss why he doesn’t start, three factors stand in the way of the 6’11” big, which Nash described after Wednesday’s win over the Rockets.

The Nets have officially ruled James Harden (right hamstring tightness) out of Thursday’s game against the Charlotte Hornets. Harden suffered the “hammie” late in the third quarter in Wednesday’s win over the Houston Rockets, leaving the game with 4:48 left in the quarter. Following the win, Steve Nash noted how the injury is not deemed long-term but that the Nets would evaluate him Thursday morning.
“We’re going to monitor it and see how he feels in the morning,” Steve Nash said on Harden. “I don’t have a lot to tell you but we feel optimistic it’s not a long-term thing and we’ll just monitor it.”
