The city’s Finance Committee has approved a $30,000 over-expenditure for the city’s street light department. The city said the funds are needed cover additional operating expenses related to Manitoba Hydro energy and maintenance costs for lighting infrastructure. The city currently has 76,770 lights requiring a 2020 budget of $12.35 million.

The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) tabled its third quarter 2020 budget on Friday. Photo radar enforcement revenue is down 20% from $10.42 million in 2019 to $8.38 million in 2020. Costs for salary and benefits are up 3% from $190.6 million in the third quarter of 2019 to $195.41 million 2020. Overtime costs are down 7% from $5.77 million in 2019 to $5.35 million in 2020.
