strongly – at least until the weekend - he averaged 321 yards off the tee, a significant improvement on his 2020 season average of 301.25 yards.
But it took an early morning Zoom chat with his Peregian coach Dom Azzopardi to sort out a few teething problems with the booming new driver.
“He was losing a few right with this driver in practice and I talked to him about what’s going to cause that in his technique, particularly now that he’s got the ball further forward,” Azzopardi said.

The top-50 players and ties move on to the third round of stroke play on Saturday with the top 24 at the completion of 54 holes qualifying for Sunday’s knockout match play section.

Andrew Martin and Tim Hart have won at the Gippsland BMW Warragul Country Club Pro-Am with rounds of 6-under 65 in wet, windy Warragul conditions.
Following a disastrous start to his round thanks to a double bogey on the uphill par-4 17
th, Martin quickly turned his fortunes around with back-to-back birdies on holes 3 and 4 to get back to square.
The Asian Tour regular added an additional two birdies to his scorecard to close out the front-nine and put him with reach of clubhouse lead of 3-under set by Marcus Fraser. Additional birdies on holes 11, 12, 14 and 15 saw Martin sign for 6-under 65.

PGA Pro-Am Series rookie Kyle Michel has won the Latrobe City WIN Network Traralgon Pro-Am Classic at Traralgon Golf Club with twin rounds of 68 for a two-round total of 8-under 136.
The unique event combined three tournaments into one with the Traralgon Classic – an amateur event – played alongside the Latrobe City WIN Network Traralgon Pro-Am. The Latrobe City Council bonus was also up for grabs for the nine female Professionals in the field.
Victoria Golf Club amateur Konrad Ciupek held the overnight lead after recording a strong opening-round score of 6-under to sit one shot clear of Michel and ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia winner Daniel Gale.
