La Fiorentina celebrates 75 years of Italian confections in Springfield’s South End Updated Jan 08, 2021; Facebook Share SPRINGFIELD The smell of sweet dough lingers outside La Fiorentina Pastry Shop on the corner of Main and Winthrop streets in Springfield’s South End neighborhood. Immediately upon entering the shop, customers see rows of Italian cookies, rum cakes, cannoli and other classic Italian pastries the business has been serving up for 75 years. “I was born here in Springfield and this is my heritage,” said Leo Daniele, who owns the shop with his wife, Anna Daniele. “Even though it has been a difficult year, we are happy that we have been able to maintain our presence in this community. Hopefully this year will be prosperous for everyone and La Fiorentina will stay here in Springfield, because it’s our community, it’s our home and we have been proud to be here for 75 years.”
