WASHINGTON Progressives were frequently aghast at candidate Joe Biden s instinct for moderation, his nostalgia for a bygone era and a record they perceived as too corporate-friendly and out of touch with his changing party.
But nearly 100 days into his term, some are happy to admit, they may be wrong. Many of us were disappointed when President Biden got the nomination, said newly elected Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., who defeated a 16-term incumbent in a primary last year. When you look at Biden s career, he s definitely someone we would call a moderate Democrat.

Billy Bragg, Lucy Dacus and more will participate in a series of conversation with labor leaders around the country to raise awareness for the Protecting the Right to Organize Act.
The series, which is being hosted by the Working Families Party, will kick off tomorrow, May 1st, which is also International Workers Day. At 3 p.m. ET, Bragg will chat with Sara Steffens of the Communications Workers of America, while at 7 p.m. ET, Boston-based singer-songwriter Anjimile will speak with Darlene Lombos of the Greater Boston Labor Council.

Replay Video UP NEXT President Biden spent the first 10 minutes of his address to Congress on Wednesday night touting the successes of his first 100 days, which he said got America “working again, dreaming again, discovering again and leading the world again.” But he also conceded that some of the biggest challenges lie ahead. “We have to prove democracy still works, that our government still works and can deliver for the people,” Biden said. A year ago, before Biden had even wrapped up the Democratic nomination, he began plotting out the course of his first 100 days, with controlling the coronavirus pandemic and shoring up a battered economy topping the list.
