It s exactly why affordable, accessible mental health education can be extremely helpful. Tools and expert knowledge on key elements of mental health like resilience, sleep, or mental health in the workplace can be broken down into takeaways that students can apply to their own experiences. It s our hope that the below courses, which are taught by professionals in their fields, can bring about a better understanding of mental health at an individual level.
Of course, online courses should
not be used in place of professional mental health treatment. If you re in search of treatment, we hope that Insider s resources on how to find a therapist virtually, online therapy providers, and Insider s Health Reference Library of medically-reviewed resources on identifying and treating various mental health conditions can be valuable.

The key to gifting books is to know your audience: What do they like to read? For my history buff friends, I always recommend Wolf Hall and the other two books in Hilary Mantel s trilogy about Thomas Cromwell during the reign of Henry VIII (assuming they have not read them yet). Both Wolf Hall and Bringing Up the Bodies won the Booker Prize, and the third volume in the trilogy, The Mirror and the Light, was nominated. Awards aren t everything, but these books truly shine with unique storytelling, shifting perspectives, and prose that makes you feel like you re inside Cromwell s head.
MasterClass is one of my favorite online learning platforms for its content and its flexibility its convenient features and unique edutainment style accommodates both casual and deep learning.
This Margaret Atwood creative writing class is a great example. Atwood is an engaging teacher I genuinely looked forward to every lesson for her expertise, witticisms, and behind-the-scenes tidbits. And on the weeks when I couldn t devote much free time to the course, I downloaded the lessons to my phone and listened to them while I exercised, cooked, or showered. It was entertaining, informative, and customizable; I learned a lot, but it never felt overwhelming.
I used to feel about facial mists the way that realists feel about Valentine s Day a shameless commercial opportunity. But, I tried the rosewater and aloe facial sprays from Mario Badescu at the recommendation of my coworkers, and I m an enthusiastic convert. I have combination skin that skews dry and can be acne-prone, and facial mists have become my key to achieving dewy, Glossier-level hydration without looking greasy or clogging pores. I spritz it onto my face and neck every few hours. Constantly reapplying moisturizer throughout the day is more involved, and I prefer the lit-from-within glow I get with mists over the sheen that moisturizers can impart. (To be clear, I use moisturizers at night and in the morning). Lastly, while it may seem silly, a rosewater spritz has become a nice calming ritual in an anxious nine months.
