Courts Service to meet local authority this week to discuss options for new Tralee courthouse

Tralee Court - Radio Kerry News - EH The Courts Service will meet the local authority this week to discuss options for a new courthouse in Tralee. The Courts Service says it’s pro-actively seeking to progress the provision of new and world class court facilities in the town. The Courts Service says it’s well aware the facilities at the courthouse on Ashe Street are not adequate for the 21st century. It says that last month its buildings committee agreed the refurbishment of the existing courthouse would not provide the facilities required to deliver modern courts services to the people of Kerry.

Kerry County Council Chief Executive to remain in position for three more years

Moira Murell The Chief Executive of Kerry County Council is to remain in her position for the next three years. Moira Murrell told councillors at the recent local authority meeting that she had decided to extend her term after seven years in the role. It means the Kerry native will remain in the role until August 2024; at that point she will have headed up the council for a decade. Council chief executives are allowed to extend their own contracts for a period of up to three years without the need for ratification by councillors.  

Kerry County Councillor calls for feasibility study into effect of bypass and greenways on Listowel

Cllr Jimmy Moloney made the call at this month’s meeting of Kerry County Council, following a report by Charlie O’Sullivan, Director of Services, Roads, Transportation & Marine at the council. The report gave an update on the capital projects by Kerry County Council which are currently underway. The Listowel to Kilmorna Greenway, more commonly known as the North Kerry Greenway, is due to be completed in October of next year.
