Body found in Grand River was man reported missing in November

OTTAWA COUNTY, MI – A body found Saturday, March 13, in the Grand River has been identified as Thomas Kasach, 36, who was reported missing in November.
The body was found Saturday evening and recovered by Ottawa County sheriff’s divers near the 6300 block of Leonard Street in Polkton Township, sheriff’s deputies said.
The identification was made at an autopsy Monday, March 15.
Foul play is not suspected.
Kasack was last seen Nov. 12 walking on Lake Michigan Drive. He was reported missing the next day.
Police searched on ground and used a state police helicopter but were not able to find the victim.

Plane crashes in Grand Haven Township after engine malfunction

GRAND HAVEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. â Deputies responded to a plane crash that occurred in the area of Ravine View Drive and Ferris Street in Grand Haven Township this afternoon, according to the Ottawa County Sheriffâs Office.
Weâre told that the pilot, a 52-year-old man from Marne, took off out of Grand Haven Airport when the engine malfunctioned.
Police say he crashed in a wooded area north of Ferris Street in an attempt to fly back to the airport, adding that he sustained non-life-threatening injuries to his face.
