With multiple travel advisories and restrictions still in place, it may seem unrealistic to get away during the upcoming months.
For those itching to travel overseas, staycations are a practical alternative to unwind without having to navigate foreign streets, jostle through crowds, or manoeuvre logistical nightmares such as flight cancellations.
To help people understand the costs and benefits of staycation options, we gathered room rates from five affordable hotels with easy access to locales including Orchard, Bugis, Sentosa, and Tiong Bahru.

Krabi welcomes longest recycled road in SEA

Hat Noppharat Thara-Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park has introduced a recycled plastic road on Noppharat Beach in the Muang district of Krabi.
The road is about 3km long and made from 10,270kg of single-use plastic waste. If we separate plastics from other rubbish, we can upcycle the trash to make a durable road, said Prayoon Pongpan, the chief of the national park.
The upcycling project was initiated by Khao Shong Industry 1979, the producer of Khao Shong instant coffee. It worked with the Green Road project of Asst Prof Wechsawan Lakas, a lecturer at the Industrial Technology Department of the Science and Technology Faculty of Chiang Mai Rajabhat University. Wechsawan launched the first recycled plastic road at the campus Mae Rim district nine years ago.

Akin to what one might expect of a Park Hyatt hotel, the color palette in the revamped accommodation is more subtle than before, with muted hues like taupe, sage green, and blue-gray. Hadiprana has also introduced design details inspired by the indigenous cultures and flora of Borneo: the curving wire-like frames of hanging lamps take their cues from traditional bangles, textured walls and doorways have grooves recalling the fronds of nipa palms
