Johnny proved a master fundraiser for the Offaly GAA Grand Canal walk. );   ); THE Offaly GAA County Board and their supporters club, Club Faithful certainly hit on a master stroke with their recent Grand Canal Walk fundraiser. The venture has brought in a whopping €208,119 so far and its success has surpassed the wildest expectations of the organisers. It was a shared fundraiser between the County Board and clubs, though the County Board will have cleared that bit more out of it as chairman Michael Duignan gathered funds solely for them and a couple of other clubs also agreed to give their full proceeds to the county.

Offaly GAA organise Walk for Club & County March 15, 2021 A Walk for Club & County takes place on Saturday, 27th March. A fundraising event organised by Offaly GAA in conjunction with Club Faithful and all the GAA clubs in the county is currently underway. With Covid-19 restrictions preventing the annual ‘Grand Canal Walk’ from taking place, the county board have instead scheduled a ‘Walk for Club & County’ on Saturday, 27th March. Donations are currently being accepted through the www.grandcanalwalk.ie website and all money raised will be split 50/50 between Offaly GAA and the clubs. Over 100 people have signed up to take part in a manner which complies with Covid-19 guidelines. They include many well-known former and current players, referees and club stalwarts.

Duignan calls on clubs to embrace appointment of full time coaches during Convention address Reporter: );   ); OFFALY GAA chairnman Michael Duignan made a passionate plea to clubs to embrace the appointment of full time coaches (Games Promotion Officers) in his address to Offaly GAA Convention on Tuesday night. Mr Duignan told delegates that the appointment of full time club coaches was a pivotal part of his vision for improving playing standards of Offaly football and hurling teams. The Durrow club man noted that Edenderry (Mairead Daly) have a full time GPO while the appointment of one in Tullamore has been approved and one is due to take place for Birr, Drumcullen and Seir Kieran GAA Clubs in January.
