Threats against Montreal’s Jewish community, including online posts threatening attacks on neighbourhoods with significant Jewish populations, are being taken “extremely seriously” by community leaders and by Montreal police.
The Montreal police department is “well aware of the threats now circulating against the Jewish community,” the SPVM said Thursday in a statement.

A joint statement by the Jewish community organization Federation CJA and the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA), an advocacy organization, said the community had witnessed “an alarming number of provocative incidents targeting Jewish Montrealers” in recent days, including vandalism on the building housing the Israeli consulate and a proliferation of online posts threatening members of the Jewish community.
