David Young is running for the Republican nomination for the Region II seat on the Montoursville Area School Board.
Region II includes Fairfield and Upper Fairfield townships.
Young retired in 2016 from the State Police after serving 26 years and holding the rank of Captain, Troop F, Montoursville.
“As the Captain of Troop F, I was in charge of over 275 sworn Troopers, as well as 25 civilian employees. My coverage area included eight stations spanning nine counties in the Central Region of Pennsylvania” Young said, according to a news release. “As the Captain of Troop F I was responsible for each stations budgets, manpower allocations, scheduling, and overall performance of those under my command. Local leaders are looking forward to the nation navigating a steady course toward a bright future as President Joe Biden assumes leadership of the country.
“I just hope we are moving in a positive direction,” Williamsport City Councilwoman Bonnie Katz said. “I think like everyone else I am hoping for peace and kindness.”
Katz said she was busy with council business Wednesday and did not have a chance to watch the inauguration of Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
She’s eager for better times following a year in which the COVID-19 pandemic has made for a rough road for businesses and people.
